Home / INNOVATIVE PRACTICES
The overarching theme of the education policies is to achieve quality and innovation and to move from rote learning to knowledge transfer. To inculcate the same, at Shanti International School, Unjha the curriculum is structured to include Innovative activities, which cater to Multiple intelligences and inculcate 21st century skills. The concept of Blended Learning is incorporated through ICT Tools (Information and computer technologies) to create e-learning classrooms.
The Active Learning Strategies like the Flipped Learning Classrooms De Bono’s Thinking Hats, Interdisciplinary teaching-learning approach, STEM and STEAM engage students in higher order thinking tasks of critical thinking, analyzing, synthesizing and evaluating. Collaborative learning including International Outreach program facilitated by the school has helped students to imbibe the values of team work, tolerance and make them ready to adapt to the changeability in a VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex Ambiguous) world.

A classroom environment that is well-decorated, fun, and engaging will help stimulate a student’s mind and will help think and learn better. Such a creative and stimulating environment will help them explore and will encourage them to learn about the subject. Children, especially young ones cannot be expected to sit all day and learn. An environment that positively impacts the children is beneficial for you as well.

Teaching through role-playing is a great way to make children step out of their comfort zone and develop their interpersonal skills. This method comes in handy, especially when you are teaching literature, history or current events. The role playing approach will help a student understand how the academic material will be relevant to his everyday tasks. Role playing is most effective for students of almost any age group.
Group discussion can be used as an effective tool in increasing the attention span. When students develop a habit of listening to tutors only most of their attention gets diverted. In such case Group Discussion allows them to hear different voices and opinions. Most of the times while participating in group discussions an idea is sparked inside the mind of the student which they thinks and creates connection with the topic of group discussion. Group Discussion is an effective way for teachers to get feedback from students which cannot be explained while attending class. The mistaken ideas inside the mind of students can be corrected during group discussions. During Group Discussion teachers can show important of topic by asking questions and align the thoughts of students into the topic. Asking students questions also helps students to prepare well before the group discussion process.
